Bashundhara Group, a leading private conglomerate in the country, on Wednesday donated Tk 0.2 million to schoolboy Asif who lost his both legs in a road accident in the city.
On behalf of BG Managing Director Sayem Sobhan, BG Media Adviser Mohammad Abu Tayeb handed over a cheque for Tk 200,000 to victim’s father, Md. Shafiul Azam, at a function at the BG Corporate House in the city.
Sayem Sobhan declared the donation to set up legs for Asif after seeing his tragedy which was published at different news papers.
Bashundhara Foundation, a sister concern of the BG, provides financial assistance to helpless people in the society.
Executive Director (accounts & finance) of East West Property Development Imrul Hasan was present at the function.
The media adviser hoped that Asif would come round soon and return to normal life again. He would also pay attention to his study.
Asif’s father expressed his gratitude to Bashundhara Group for its generous financial help and said, “I got the money when doctors suggested me for setting up artificial legs for my son.”
With the donation, Mehedi Hasan Asif, a class-II student of Bangladesh Ideal School & College, who met with the accident at Khilgaon level-crossing on 21 April last year, is now dreaming of walking again.
