
Bashundhara Group (BG), top business conglomerate, made the dream of Asif, a class-II student of Bangladesh Ideal College who lost his legs in train accident, true by providing him financial aid for fitting artificial legs.
On behalf of Managing Director of BG Sayem Sobhan, BG Media Advisor Mohammad Abu Tayeb handed over a cheque of Tk 2 lakh to Asif’s father M Shafiul Azam at BG corporate office on Wednesday afternoon.
Abu Tayeb wished Asif’s quick recovery, safe return to normal life and to concentrate on study soon.
Executive Director (Accounts and Finance) of East West Property Development (Pvt) Ltd Imrul Hasan was also present in the function.
On April 21 in the last year, Asif lost his both legs under a train, while he was crossing the rail-line in Khilgaon area of the city, at the time of returning home from school with his grand father.
Later, after treatment in Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, the doctors recommended to fit artificial leg.
Then, Asif was admitted to Mohammadpur Endolite Bangladesh Hospital. But, it was not possible for Asif’s family to manage all the money for fitting the artificial legs brining from abroad.
Meanwhile, it was Bashundhara Group, which stepped forward to help the family.
Seeing miserable condition of Asif in different media, BG Managing Director came forward and declared to donate Tk 2 lakh to help fitting artificial legs so that Asif can walk again.
Bashundhara Group has been working relentlessly for welfare of the country and its people through its associate organization, Bashundhara Foundation.
Asif’s father M Shafiul Azam was inundated with emotion while taking the cheque.
He told banglanews, “The time when I was helpless losing every penny I had for my only child, Bashundhara made me hopeful.”
Shafiul expressed his gratitude to Bashundhara Group hoping his child to walk again.
He also urged every worthy person to help him for his child’s treatment as it will need a total of Tk 7 lakh.
