The current boom of the Shipbuilding Industry is the global rise due to high demand for building
new ships, helped Bangladesh to attract the attention of international shipping companies by
which, a new scope is knocking for economic development of the country. Bashundhara Group, a
renowned Group of Companies, determined to contribute the country through entering into
International Shipbuilding Industry. The group was involved in this sector since 2002 as
Bashundhara Steel and Engineering Ltd. To achieve the goal, the up gradation works of the BSEL
Shipyard are being done rapidly as per master plan and hope it will become a leading shipyard for
home and abroad soon to play a great role in socio-economic development of the country.
The yard has three shipways and a modern workshop where repairs and conversion are regularly
done. The yard has built 50 nos. sand carriers, 20 nos. local dredgers and 4 nos. 1800 MT dwt
vessels. Now laying up keel for more 14 nos. 2500 MT dwt vessel. The yard has a plan to design and
construct ocean going multipurpose and container vessels in near future.
